Subway and rail service changes: August 2-5, 2024

There are service changes on the subway and LIRR this weekend. Here's how that will affect how you get around.
Updated August 2, 2024 12:00 p.m.

Happy Friday and happy August! This is a popular time for New Yorkers to get away from the heat of the city—and if you do, consider taking public transit to the airport—but there's also lots to do right here in NYC this month, like Summer Streets, NYC Restaurant Week, and US Open Fan Week. And whether you're getting out of town or going out on the town, the MTA is always your best way to get around.

A heads up for our Church Av  riders: Starting at 11:45 p.m. Sunday and running through the fall, Brighton Beach-bound  and Coney Island-bound  trains won't stop at Church Av because of accessibility work. For service to/from this station, take a Manhattan-bound train, or consider using the nearby Parkside Av or Beverley Rd stations.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a handy map):

  •  trains aren't stopping at Van Cortlandt Park-242 St in either direction.
  • Downtown  trains are running on the  from W 4 St-Washington Sq to 2 Av and uptown  trains are running on the  from 2 Av to 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Center.

For more details, keep on scrolling. We've also got travel alternatives for stations that will be closed or skipped.

And don't forget to sign up for the MTA Weekender, a newsletter sent every Friday. You'll get these service changes directly in your inbox, with more than enough time to plan your weekend travel. Subscribe here.
