Subway service changes: November 22-25, 2024

There are service changes on the subway this weekend. Here's how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday! It's almost Thanksgiving—November has flown by faster than a speeding turkey. 

If you're traveling to JFK airport ​ this weekend, note that ​​ trains aren't running to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport. Take the ​​ to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport or the ​​ to Howard Beach-JFK Airport.

And a heads up for our  riders in Brooklyn: this weekend's service change is planned to repeat over five weekends, through the weekend of December 20-23.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a handy map):

  •  ​ trains aren't running between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College.
  •  trains aren't running between Chambers St and New Lots Av.
  •  trains aren't running between Queensboro Plaza and 34 St-Hudson Yards.
  • ​ trains are running on the ​ between 59 St-Columbus Circle and 34 St-Herald Sq and on the ​ between 34 St-Herald Sq and Jay St-MetroTech.
  •  trains aren't running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
  •  trains aren't running between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Church Av, and are running in two sections.
  •  trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St.
  •  trains aren't running between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy.
  •  trains aren't running between Brighton Beach and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

Major subway service changes

 trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

From 11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday:

  •  trains aren't running between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College in either direction, and are running on the  between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and Crown Heights-Utica Av.
  •  trains aren't running between Chambers St and New Lots Av and are running on the  between Chambers St and Rector St.
  •  trains are running to/from New Lots Av all weekend.
  • Utica Av-bound  and New Lots Av-bound  trains are making express stops between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Crown Heights-Utica Av.

This is because of track maintenance.

  • For service between Chambers St and Nevins St, take the .
  • For service between Nevins St and Crown Heights-Utica Av, take  trains.
  • For service between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College, take free B96 shuttle buses, which are making all  stops and an additional stop at Nostrand Av .
  • For service to/from bypassed local stations between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Crown Heights-Utica Av, take a Manhattan-bound train.

 trains, Manhattan and Queens

 trains aren't running between Queensboro Plaza and 34 St-Hudson Yards from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday because of drainage improvement work.

  • For service between Manhattan and Queens, take  trains.
    • Transfer at 74 St-Broadway/Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av  or Queensboro Plaza .
    • Special weekend  service is running between Astoria-Ditmars Blvd and Whitehall St every 20 minutes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
  • For service to/from 34 St-Hudson Yards, take the M34-SBS bus.
  • Free shuttle buses are also running along two routes:
    • Q93, making all  stops between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av.
    • Q92, overnight only between Times Sq-42 St and 34 St-Hudson Yards.
  • 42 St Shuttle trains are running all weekend, including overnight.
  •  trains are running between Flushing-Main St and Queensboro Plaza, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

 trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

 trains are running on the  between 59 St-Columbus Circle and 34 St-Herald Sq and on the  between 34 St-Herald Sq and Jay St-MetroTech in both directions all day Saturday and Sunday. This is because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations between 50 St and Chambers St, take  trains. For service to/from Fulton St and High St, take the .
    •  trains are making local stops between 125 St and Canal St and  trains are making local stops between 125 St and 59 St-Columbus Circle in both directions all weekend.

 trains, Brooklyn

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  •  trains aren't running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
    •  trains are running between Jamaica-179 St and Church Av.
    • Manhattan-bound ​​ trains are making express stops between Church Av and Jay St-MetroTech.
    • Note:  trains also aren't running between between Kings Hwy and Coney Island-Stillwell Av from 5 a.m. Monday to 10 p.m. Wednesday.
  • ​​ trains aren't running between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Church Av, and are running in two sections:
    • Between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs.
    • Between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Hoyt-Schermerhorn, every 20 minutes.

This is because of signal modernization work.

  • For service between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av, take free B90 shuttle buses, which are making all  stops between these stations.
    • For direct service between Manhattan/Downtown Brooklyn and Coney Island, take  trains.
    • When exiting the subway at Church Av or Coney Island-Stillwell Av, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For local service to ​​ stations between Bergen St and Church Av, take a Church Av-bound .
  • To connect between ​ and ​ trains, take ​ trains between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Jay St-MetroTech.

 trains, Brooklyn and Queens

 trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service between 121 St and Crescent St, take free J90 shuttle buses, which are running between Jamaica Van-Wyck  and Crescent St, making all  stops between 121 St and Crescent St.
    • When exiting the subway at Jamaica-Van Wyck or Crescent St, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For service to/from Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport, take the .
  • For service to JFK Airport , take the  to Howard Beach-JFK Airport or the ​ to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport​.
  •  trains are running between Crescent St and Broad St.

 trains, Brooklyn

 trains aren't running between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy in either direction from 3 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement.

  • For service between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy, take free shuttle buses, which are running on two routes:
    • Local, making all  stops between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs and Canarsie-Rocakway Pkwy.
    • Express, stopping only at Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs, Broadway Junction, and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy.
  • For service between Brooklyn and Manhattan, take  trains.
    • Transfer between shuttle buses and trains at Broadway Junction  or Junius St  (Livonia Av).
    • When exiting the subway at Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs, Broadway Junction, or Junius St, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  •  trains are running between 8 Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs, every 8 minutes during the day and evening and every 12 minutes overnight.

 trains, Brooklyn

 trains aren't running between Brighton Beach and Coney Island-Stillwell Av from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Wednesday because of track replacement.

  • For service between Brighton Beach and Coney Island-Stillwell Av, take free shuttle buses, which are making all  stops between these stations.
    • When exiting the subway at Brighton Beach or Coney Island-Stillwell Av, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For direct service between Manhattan/Downtown Brooklyn and Coney Island, take  trains.
  •  trains are running between 96 St and Brighton Beach.

 Rockaway Park Shuttle, Queens

Rockaway Park Shuttle trains aren't running from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

  • Take free shuttle buses, which are running between Beach 67 St  and Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St, making all Rockaway Park Shuttle stops between Beach 90 St and Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St.
    • Connect with  trains at Beach 67 St for service to/from Broad Channel.

Other subway service changes

 trains, the Bronx

Manhattan-bound  trains aren't stopping from E 180 St to 3 Av-149 St from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Wakefield-bound  or Dyre Av-bound  train. 

 trains, Queens

Manhattan-bound  trains aren't stopping at 169 St, Sutphin Blvd, and Briarwood from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Jamaica-bound train.
