Subway service changes: November 15-18, 2024

There are service changes on the subway this weekend. Here's how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday! It's the third weekend in November, cooler weather is finally here, and the holiday season is just around the corner. If you're looking to get into the mood, why not consider stopping by the New York Transit Museum's free Holiday Train Show at its Grand Central Gallery and Store? Or, enjoy our last weekend of special leaf peeper service on the Metro-North Hudson Line.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a handy map):

  •  trains aren't running in Brooklyn.
  •  trains aren't running between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Bowling Green.
  •  trains aren't running between 145 St and W 4 St-Washington Sq and are running in two sections.
  •  trains aren't running.
  •  trains aren't running between 145 St and 42 St-Bryant Park and are running in two sections.
  •  trains aren't running between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Church Av.
  •  trains aren't running between Hewes St and Broad St.
  •  trains aren't running between Myrtle Av and Delancey St-Essex St.
  •  trains aren't running between 96 St and Times Sq-42 St.
  •  Rockaway Park Shuttle trains aren't running.

Major subway service changes

 trains, Brooklyn

 trains aren't running in Brooklyn from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station improvement work.

  • For service between Borough Hall and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College, take  trains.
  • For service between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and New Lots Av, take the , which is running to/from New Lots Av all weekend, including overnight.
    • Transfer between  and  trains at Fulton St.
  •  trains are running between Woodlawn and Bowling Green.

 trains, Manhattan

 trains aren't running between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Bowling Green in either direction all day Saturday and Sunday because of station improvement work.

  • For service between these stations, take the .
  •  trains are running between Eastchester-Dyre Av and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall, every 12 minutes during the day and evening.
    •  trains are making local stops between 125 St and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall. Uptown trains are skipping 68 St-Hunter College.

 trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  •  trains aren't running between 145 St and W 4 St-Washington Sq in either direction.  trains are running in two sections:
    • Between Inwood-207 St and 145 St, making local stops.
    • Between Far Rockaway-Mott Av or Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd and W 4 St-Washington Sq, on the ​ to 63 St/Lexington Av, and on the ​ to 96 St.
    •  trains are making local stops between W 4 St-Washington Sq and Euclid Av all weekend.
  •  trains aren't running at all.
  •  trains aren't running between 145 St and 42 St-Bryant Park in either direction.  trains are running in two sections:
    • Between Norwood-205 St and 145 St.
    • Between 42 St-Bryant Park and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
  •  trains aren't running between 96 St and Times Sq-42 St in either direction.
    •  trains are running between Times Sq-42 St and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

This is because of switch replacement.

 trains, Brooklyn

From 9:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday,  trains aren't running between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Church Av in either direction and Manhattan-bound  trains are making express stops from Kings Hwy to Jay St-MetroTech. This is because of signal modernization work.

  • For local service to  stations between Bergen St and Church Av and  stations between Church Av and Kings Hwy, take a Coney Island-bound .
  • To connect between  and  trains, take  trains between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Jay St-MetroTech.
  •  trains are running in two sections:
    • Between Court Sq and and Bedford-Nostrand Avs.
    • Between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Hoyt-Schermerhorn, every 20 minutes.
    • Transfer at Bedford-Nostrand Avs to continue your trip.

 trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, trains aren't running between Hewes St and Broad St in either direction and  trains aren't running between Myrtle Av and Delancey St-Essex St in either direction. This is because of structural maintenance.

  • For service between Myrtle Av and Hewes St, take the ​.
  • For service between Hewes St and Delancey St-Essex St, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations and stopping at Marcy Av.
    • When exiting the subway at Hewes St or Delancey St-Essex St, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For service between Brooklyn and Manhattan, take  trains.
  • For service to Lower Manhattan, take  trains.
  •  trains are running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Hewes St.
  •  trains are running between Middle Village-Metropolitan Av and Myrtle Av.

 Rockaway Park Shuttle, Queens

Rockaway Park Shuttle trains aren't running from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

  • Take free shuttle buses, which are running between Beach 67 St  and Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St, making all Rockaway Park Shuttle stops between Beach 90 St and Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St.
    • Connect with  trains at Beach 67 St for service to/from Broad Channel.

Other subway service changes

 trains, Manhattan

Uptown  and  local trains aren't stopping at 68 St-Hunter College from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of accessibility improvement work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a downtown local train. Or, consider nearby 59 St or 77 St stations or M101, M102, or M103 buses making stops along Lexington Av.
  • During the day and evening,  trains are running every 12 minutes and  trains are running every 8 minutes while  trains share tracks in Manhattan.

 trains, Queens

Flushing-bound  trains are making express stops from 74 St-Broadway to Mets-Willets Point from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 3:30 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.
  • At Junction Blvd, all trains are stopping at the Manhattan-bound platform.
  • At Mets-Willets Point, all trains are stopping at the Flushing-bound platform.
  •  trains are running every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

 trains, Brooklyn

Manhattan-bound  trains aren't stopping at Bedford Av from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 12 noon Saturday because of station improvement work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Canarsie-bound train. Or, consider nearby Lorimer St station.

Canarsie-bound  trains aren't stopping at Bedford Av from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to 12 noon Sunday because of station improvement work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Manhattan-bound train. Or, consider nearby Lorimer St station.
