In the last weeks before winter arrives, consider spending more time outdoors — whether that's a hike in the Hudson Valley, a bike ride along a Long Island rail trail, or a walk through one of the city's many beautiful parks. Whatever you do this weekend, there's likely a way to get there via public transit. Use the trip planner on our homepage to find the best route.
You'll want to know about service changes before you head out. Here's what's going on:

Major subway service changes
trains, Brooklyn
Trains are not running between Crown Hts-Utica Av and New Lots Av from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement work.
- Free shuttle buses are running between Crown Hts-Utica Av and New Lots Av. Look for signs outside affected stations to find the nearest shuttle bus stop.
- trains are running between Harlem-148 St and Crown Hts-Utica Av, except overnight, when they will only run between Harlem-148 St and Times Sq-42 St.
- trains are running between Woodlawn and Crown Hts-Utica Av.

trains, Manhattan and Queens
Trains are not running between 34 St-Hudson Yards and Queensboro Plaza in both directions from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.
- For service between Manhattan and Queens, take trains.
- Free shuttle buses are running in two sections:
- Between 34 St-Hudson Yards and Times Sq-42 St.
- Between Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av and Queensboro Plaza.
- Look for signs outside affected stations to find the nearest shuttle bus stop.
- trains are running between Queensboro Plaza and Flushing-Main St.
- For service between Times Sq-42 St and Grand Central-42 St, take the 42 St Shuttle .

trains, Bronx and Brooklyn
From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, trains are not running between 161 St-Yankee Stadium and Norwood-205 St in both directions, and Bronx-bound trains are bypassing 155 St. This is because of structural maintenance work.
- trains are running between Coney Island-Stillwell Av and 161 St-Yankee Stadium.
- For service to/from 155 St, take a Coney Island-bound train.
- For service between 161 St-Yankee Stadium and Bedford Park Blvd, take the .
- For service to/from Norwood-205 St, take the to/from Mosholu Pkwy and transfer to a free shuttle bus, running between Mosholu Pkwy and Norwood-205 St. Transfer between the and the at 161 St-Yankee Stadium.
From 11:45 p.m. Saturday to 8 p.m. Sunday, there's no Coney Island-bound service between 36 St and Coney Island-Stillwell Av. All trains will run on the line between those stations.
- For Coney Island-bound service to/from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound train, then transfer.

trains, Brooklyn
Trains are not running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in either direction from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday because of signal modernization work.
- For service to/from stations between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av, use local buses or nearby and stations.

trains, Manhattan and Brooklyn
From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, trains are not running between Broad St and Hewes St in both directions, and trains are not running between Delancey St-Essex St and Myrtle Av. This is because of signal improvement work.
- For service between Manhattan and Brooklyn/Queens, transfer to the trains at Broadway Junction, or the at Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.
- Free shuttle buses are running between Delancey St-Essex St and Hewes St. Look for signs outside affected stations to find the nearest shuttle bus stop.
- trains are running between Hewes St and Jamaica Center.
- trains are running between Myrtle Av and Middle Village-Metropolitan Av.
- For service to/from stations between Delancey St-Essex St and Broad St, use nearby stations.

trains, Manhattan
Trains are not running between 57 St-7 Av and Lexington Av/63 St in both directions from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement work.
- trains are running in two sections:
- Between Coney Island-Stillwell Av and 57 St-7 Av, and then via the to/from Astoria-Ditmars Blvd, every 12 minutes.
- Between Lexington Av/63 St and 96 St, every 15 minutes.
- To continue your trip between the Upper East Side and Midtown/Brooklyn, transfer across the platform to/from an train at Lexington Av/63 St. You can transfer between the and at 34 St-Herald Sq.

Other service changes
trains, Bronx
Brooklyn Bridge-bound trains are running on the express track from Hunts Point Av to 3 Av-138 St from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station improvement work.
- For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Pelham Bay Park-bound train.

trains, Queens
Queens-bound trains are not stopping at Briarwood or Sutphin Blvd from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of electrical improvement work.

Long Island Rail Road service changes
Hempstead Branch
Trains are not running between Jamaica and Hempstead in either direction from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday while we install longer-lasting concrete ties between Bellerose and Floral Park.
- For service to/from Hollis, Queens Village, and Floral Park, take Ronkonkoma Branch trains, which will make those stops.
- For service to/from the UBS Arena, use the shuttle train between Jamaica and Belmont Park.
- For service to/from Stewart Manor, Nassau Boulevard, Garden City, and Hempstead, transfer at Mineola for bus service.
- For service to/from Country Life Press, use Mineola or bus service to/from Garden City instead.
- The last trains to operate on Friday night are the 11:19 p.m. from Hempstead and the 11:44 p.m. from Atlantic Terminal.
- Service resumes on Monday morning with the 12:16 a.m. from Hempstead and 1:49 a.m. from Atlantic Terminal.

Port Washington Branch
Trains are not running between Bayside and Port Washington in both directions from 10:30 p.m. Friday to 3:45 a.m. Monday while we test a new signal system near Great Neck.
- Buses are running every hour between Bayside and Port Washington, making all stops except Plandome, due to low bridges in the area.
- As an alternative to Plandome, use the nearby Manhasset bus stop.
- Trains are running between Penn Station and Bayside on a regular weekend schedule.
- The last trains to run on Friday night are the 9:48 p.m. from Penn Station and the 10:38 p.m. from Port Washington.
- Service resumes on Monday morning with the 3:18 a.m. from Penn Station and the 5:09 a.m. from Port Washington.

Metro-North Railroad service changes
Port Jervis Line
Trains are not running between Suffern and Port Jervis in both directions from 12:45 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday.
- Buses are running between Ramsey-Route 17 and all stations between Sloatsburg and Port Jervis. See the full bus schedule here.
- Trains are running between Hoboken and Suffern on a modified schedule and express service isn't running.
- Riders traveling from Otisville and Salisbury Mills to Hoboken and New York should consider using the Middletown or Harriman stations instead. Local bus service will be available but does not connect with the train at Ramsey-Route 17.
- Busing begins on Saturday morning with the 12:39 a.m. from Hoboken. Train service resumes early Sunday morning with the 4:41 a.m. from Port Jervis.

Wassaic Line
Trains are not running between Southeast and Wassaic in both directions 24/7 through November 20, 2022 because of track maintenance.
- Buses are running between Southeast and Wassaic. Express and local buses will be available for most trains. Expect up to an additional hour of travel time. See the full bus schedule here.
