Scott Rechler is the CEO and chairman of RXR Realty LLC ("RXR''), a multibillion-dollar private real estate company which was formed subsequent to the sale of Reckson Associates Realty Corp to SL Green In January 2007, one of the largest public real estate management buyouts In REIT history. Mr. Rechler served as CEO and chairman during Reckson's dynamic growth from its $300-million IPO In 1995 and $6.0-billion sale in 2007, generating a return of over 700% to Reckson shareholders. Since the formation of RXR, the company has become one of the tri-State area's largest real estate owners, managers, and developers, with interests in 90 commercial properties and investments containing some 25 million square feet with an aggregate gross value of approximately $15.7 billion. In addition, RXR has a residential development pipeline of approximately 3,200 units.
In June 2011, Mr. Rechler was appointed by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo to the Board of Commissioners of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, where he served until October 2016 as vice chairman and as chairman of the authority's Capital Planning Committee, whose $30-billion capital budget included the World Trade Center redevelopment. In May 2013, Mr. Rechler was appointed to represent Gov. Cuomo on the Board of The National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center Foundation, Inc. To further RXR’s mission of enhancing the communities in which it operates, Mr. Rechler serves as chairman of the Regional Planning Association, as a member of the Real Estate Board of New York, as board member of The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, and as a member of the NYU Real Estate Institute Advisory Committee. In addition, he serves on the Boards of many area cultural institutions, including the Tribeca Film Institute, the Long Island Children's Museum, and The National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center Foundation, Inc., the Drum Major Institute, and the Center for Social Innovation. Mr. Rechler is a graduate of Clark University and earned an M.S. in Real Estate at NYU's Schack Institute.
