About the project

The track used by ​ trains to travel between Jamaica-Van Wyck and Jamaica Center was past its useful life by 2020, having been in place since the ’70s and ’80s.

We inspect our tracks regularly, and made temporary fixes in 2018, but track conditions still caused hundreds of delays. 

In November 2020, we completed work to replace this entire track to provide much more reliable service.
