About the route
The B83 runs between Broadway Junction and Gateway Center.
The current length of the B83 Local route is 5.3 miles. This would change to 4.8 miles under the Draft Plan.
In the existing route, the average stop spacing is 1,015 feet. Under the proposed route, that would increase to 1,369 feet. There would be 1.3 turns per mile.
The route would include connections to the B53, B55, B60, B66, B76, B82, B82 SBS, B103, Q24, Q51, Q56 and LIRR trains.

Review the B83 route summary
The proposed B83 would be streamlined to stay on Pennsylvania Av, providing quicker trips between Spring Creek Towers and Gateway Center, and subway connections at the Pennsylvania Av and Broadway Junction stations. This reroute would remove turns and reduce delays. Existing service on Vandalia Av and Van Siclen Av would be discontinued, though similar subway connections would available via the proposed B6 LTD, B5, and B103 on Cozine Av, along with the proposed B20 on Stanley Av, and the B15 and B55 on New Lots Av.
As a Local route, stops would be spaced slightly farther apart than existing to speed up buses and improve reliability. Frequencies would be increased during Middays, PM Peak, and Early Evenings on weekdays, as well as during Saturday mornings and Sunday late evenings.
Service would now operate 24 hours on weekdays and weekends, though new proposed overnight trips would only operate between Broadway Junction and Spring Creek Towers.
