About the route

The B43 runs between Greenpoint and Prospect-Lefferts Gardens.

The current length of the B43 Local route is 6.8 miles. This would increase to 6.9 miles under the Draft Plan.

In the existing route, the average stop spacing is 710 feet. Under the proposed route, that would increase to 934 feet. There would be 1.6 turns per mile. 

The route would include connections to the B10, B12, B15, B17, B25, B26, B38, B40, B41, B41 XT, B44, B44-SBS, B45, B46, B47, B48, B49, B52, B53, B54, B57, B62, B65, B66, B69, Q54, Q59, Q68,  and  trains.

Review the B43 route summary

The proposed B43 would maintain its existing northbound routing.

Southbound between Flushing Av and Empire Blvd, the proposed B43 would travel on Marcus Garvey Blvd and Albany Av instead of Tompkins Av and Brooklyn Av, providing increased frequency along with the B15 between Williamsburg and Bedford-Stuyvesant. Southbound service on Albany Av also would better fill a network gap in Crown Heights between Nostrand Av and Utica Av. Existing southbound B43 service on Tompkins Av and Brooklyn Av would be discontinued.

As a Local route, stops would be spaced slightly farther apart than existing to speed up buses and improve reliability.
