Review the Bx18 Route Summary

Route

The Bx18 will be extended to serve a new section along 168th Street and Shakespeare Avenue, replacing the Bx11 along this segment. In combination with frequency improvements, Bx18 riders will have better access to the East 170 Street 4 and B/D stations, and a new direct connection between the High Bridge and Morris Heights neighborhoods. The route will operate as a circulator, running both clockwise and counter-clockwise throughout its length.

Key connecting routes include: Bx1Bx2Bx3Bx11, and Bx36.

Stops

Nineteen percent (10 of 53) of the Bx18 stops along the new alignment will be removed, improving stop spacing from 705 feet to 873 feet. By removing these stops, we’ll improve reliability along the route.

See the route profile with full stop list.

Schedule

The Bx18 weekday and weekend schedules will be improved. Because it will serve as a new HighBridge/Morris Heights circulator and as a replacement for the Bx11 along 168th Street and Shakespeare Avenue, the Bx18 frequencies and spans have been increased, both in the clockwise and counter-clockwise directions. Due to the routing change, ridership will be closely monitored, and schedules will be adjusted accordingly.
