Wind Update: MTA Bridges and Tunnels to Prohibit Certain Trucks from Using Seven NYC Bridges on Wednesday, Jan. 1, and Thursday, Jan. 2

MTA Bridges and Tunnels today announced that due to forecasts of high wind conditions beginning this afternoon, the agency will prohibit empty tractor-trailers and tandem trucks (piggyback, dual, triple, etc.) from using its seven bridges beginning at 3:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 1. The ban is currently expected to last through 10:00 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 2.

The seven bridges where the prohibition will be in effect are listed here:

  • Bronx-Whitestone Bridge
  • Cross Bay Bridge
  • Henry Hudson Bridge
  • Marine Parkway Bridge
  • Robert F. Kennedy Bridge
  • Throgs Neck Bridge
  • Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge
