Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Chair and CEO Janno Lieber and MTA Chief Customer Officer Shanifah Rieara today visited Coney Island-Stillwell Av  subway station to celebrate National Night Out located within NYPD Transit District 34.

The MTA leaders thanked officers at the end-of-line station for keeping the subway system safe and spoke with riders at the terminal. The leaders also thanked City workers distributing information about the Fair Fares program, which allows eligible customers to receive a 50% discount on subway, bus or Access-A-Ride fares.

“NYPD is the essence of great policing,” said Chair Lieber. “They do a great job every day, particularly the Transit Bureau who are making a huge difference – subway crime in New York is way down. New Yorkers and transit riders need to feel safe and it’s because of the NYPD we’re getting there. We’re so grateful to the Transit Bureau and these great NYPD officers for their dedication to serve riders.”
