The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced that in celebration of the New York Liberty’s triumphant win against the Minnesota Lynx for the WNBA Championship title on Sunday, Oct. 20, decals of the team’s logo have been installed throughout the Liberty Ave  station in East New York, Brooklyn. The win marks the first championship of the team’s 28-year franchise history.

“This is a historic win for the New York Liberty and the whole city is celebrating,” said MTA Chief Customer Officer Shanifah Rieara. “With a subway station named Liberty Ave, installing decals to celebrate this victory seemed like a perfect opportunity to participate in the excitement and show support for New York’s latest champions.”

The 20’’x 30’’ decals are placed throughout the station under the blue tiled “Liberty Ave” station signs and will remain on display for about 2 to 3 weeks. The New York Liberty is an original franchise of the WNBA and this win marks their first WNBA Championship in 28 seasons and New York City's first professional basketball championship since 1973.
