Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) New York City Transit workers today were joined by David Zabar and Zabar’s General Manager Scott Goldshine to hand out Zabar’s famed Black and White cookies to hundreds of subway riders at Court Square Station in Queens and Jay St–Metro Tech in Brooklyn. This is part of a week-long celebration honoring the New York City subway’s 120th anniversary and Zabar’s 90th anniversary. Beginning Thursday, Oct. 24, “commuter special” bagel deals will be offered at Zabar’s on Broadway and 80 St on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Later today, more cookies will be distributed to lucky subway riders at a Bronx and a Manhattan station.

“We’re celebrating 120 years of the subway, not only by ensuring we’re delivering reliable and efficient service and enhancing station environments, but also by thanking customers with free cookies and more,” said NYC Transit Interim President Demetrius Crichlow. “Thank you to Zabar’s for partnering with the MTA to show appreciation for subway riders.”

“We’re proud to have served the community for 90 years and we look forward to many more at Zabar’s,” said David Zabar. “We hope subway riders enjoy the cookies today and grab thetrain to 79th St to get their commuter special bagels as we come together to celebrate the subway's and Zabar’s incredible milestone anniversaries.”
