The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today hosted an open house in Downtown Brooklyn for qualified candidates interested in careers as bus maintainers and mechanics at New York City Transit. Approximately 630 prospective candidates attended the open house.

Job openings at New York City Transit (NYCT) include Bus Maintainers, Auto Mechanics, Auto Body Technicians and Auto Mechanic Helpers. Candidates must have auto mechanic or auto body training and/or experience to qualify for available positions.

"We’re so pleased to see this amazing turnout, it shows you how important MTA buses are to New Yorkers who ride them to work, school, work, appointments, our beaches and museums, and so much more," said NYC Transit Senior Vice President of Buses Frank Annicaro. “The MTA moves New York, and we need enthusiastic people like you see here today to keep our buses on the road."

The MTA is also hiring 2,000 bus operators. The next NYCT job open house will take place on Saturday, August 17 at the Bronx High School of Science in the Bronx from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
