Listen to Commissioner Sewell’s Announcement
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced that for the first time, a New York City Police Commissioner has recorded an announcement to play in the subway system. As part of the collaborative effort between the MTA and NYPD to enhance subway safety, Commissioner Keechant Sewell’s public safety announcement will play throughout the subway system during the month of July. The message follows Mayor Eric Adams’ and Police Commissioner Sewell’s renewed commitment to assign more officers to patrol the system, both on subway trains and platforms, as the City moves to the next phase of Mayor Adams’ Subway Safety Plan. Transcript of Commissioner's announcement: The announcements will play every 15 minutes around-the-clock at indoor stations, and from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at outdoor stations. They can be heard through July 30. |
