View Map of Subway Service Changes
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today offered details about service for Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 19.
Several projects will take place over the holiday weekend, between Friday, February 16 and Tuesday, February 20, which will impact service across the transit system. Work affecting service on the subways include Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades, Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) upgrades, as well as state-of-good repair work such as switch and track maintenance.
New York City Subway
On Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 19, the New York City Subway will operate on a Saturday schedule with some planned service changes due to scheduled maintenance and repair work. As a reminder,
, , and trains do not run on weekends. The Staten Island Railway will operate on a Sunday schedule.The Authority previously announced ongoing signal modernization work and track replacement work along the , and lines in Brooklyn. For the holiday weekend, Brooklyn riders should be aware of the following service changes, which will extend continuously through 5:00 a.m. Monday, February 26.
- trains will operate between Jamaica-179 St and Kings Hwy. Shuttle buses will be provided from Kings Hwy to Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
- trains will operate between 96 St and Brighton Beach. Shuttle buses will be provided from Brighton Beach to Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
- The planned work will impact trains during the week, which will operate between Bedford Park Blvd (rush hours only), 145 St and Kings Hwy during this time.
The following service changes will be in effect, starting Friday, February 16 through the early morning of Tuesday, February 20 for state-of-good repair work:
- trains will operate in two sections, between South Ferry and 116 St and Dyckman St and Van Cortlandt Park-242 St. Southbound trains will skip 207 St. Shuttle buses will be provided for skipped stations, operating along three routes: 116 St to 168 St; 168 St to 191 St and Dyckman St station to Dyckman St station.
- and trains will operate locally in both directions between Times Sq-42 St and Chambers St.
- Northbound trains – as well as late-night trains – will operate express between Crown Heights-Utica Av and Nevins St, stopping at the middle platform at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.
- Manhattan-bound trains operate express between Mets-Willets Point and 74 St-Broadway.
- Northbound trains – as well as late-night trains – will operate express between Canal St and 59 St-Columbus Circle.
- Northbound trains will operate express between Canal St and 42 St – Port Authority Bus Terminal.
- Northbound and trains will operate locally between 59 St-Columbus Circle and 125 St.
- trains will not operate between 161 St-Yankee Stadium and Norwood-205 St with shuttle buses operating between Mosholu Pkwy station and Norwood-205 St station.
- trains are rerouted to Jamaica-179 St with shuttle buses operating between Kew Gardens-Union Tpke and Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer.
- shuttle trains are suspended and replaced by shuttle buses between Roosevelt Island and Queens Plaza.
- trains will operate between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Hewes St. Shuttle buses will be provided for riders traveling between Hewes St and Essex St due to repair work on the Williamsburg Bridge. trains will operate between Metropolitan Av and Myrtle Av-Broadway only during this time.
- Southbound , , and trains will operate express between 57 St-7 Av and Canal St.
- Southbound , , and trains will bypass 14 St due to ongoing ADA-upgrades work at the station complex.
- Also note that from Tuesday, February 20 through Friday February 23, trains will not operate to 57 St/6 Av and will be rerouted to Chambers St on the .
New York City Buses
Buses in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens will operate on a Saturday schedule. In Queens, the QM2 and QM5 buses will operate on an enhanced Saturday schedule, and the QM20 will operate on a special schedule.
Staten Island buses will operate on a reduced weekday schedule. There will be no Limited service with the exception of the S89, S90 and S93. The S46 Teleport service, SIM4X and SIM8X will not operate.
Long Island Rail Road
The Long Island Rail Road will operate on a holiday schedule, with off-peak fares in effect all day.
Due to planned track work near Penn Station, some Far Rockaway Branch trains will be diverted to Grand Central. Customers should check TrainTime prior to traveling.
Metro-North Railroad
For Presidents' Day, Monday, February 19, Metro-North will run a Saturday schedule on the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven lines with off-peak fares in effect all day. Hudson Rail Link buses and the Haverstraw-Ossining and Newburgh-Beacon ferries will not operate.
Port Jervis and Pascack Valley lines will operate on a weekend/holiday schedule, with off-peak fares in effect all day.
The Port Jervis Line will have the following trains added to its schedule for Presidents' Day, February 19:
- An extra train that will depart Port Jervis at 6:18 a.m., making all stops through Suffern, then operate express to Secaucus Junction and Hoboken, arriving Hoboken at 8:30 a.m., with a connecting train at Secaucus Junction to Penn Station New York, arriving at Penn Station at 8:39 a.m.
- An extra train that will depart Port Jervis at 4:05 p.m., making all stops through Suffern, then operate express to Secaucus Junction and Hoboken, arriving Hoboken at 6:24 p.m., with a connecting train at Secaucus Junction to Penn Station, New York arriving at Penn Station at 6:33 p.m.
- An extra train that will depart Hoboken at 5:19 p.m. to Port Jervis, with a connecting train departing Penn Station New York at 5:14 p.m., stopping at Secaucus Junction and then operating express to Suffern and then making all stops to Port Jervis, arriving at 7:35 p.m.
