MTA Announces Joint $50,000 Reward with TWU Local 100 and New York City Police Foundation for Information on Brooklyn Shooting Suspect

MTA and TWU Add $12,500 Each to $25,000 Reward from New York City Police Foundation for a Total of $50,000

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and Transport Workers Union (TWU) Local 100 today announced a joint reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect in Tuesday’s shooting at the 36 St   station in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The agency and the union will put up $12,500 each for a combined total reward of $25,000 added to an existing $25,000 reward from the New York Police Foundation.

“We are doing everything we can to catch the man responsible for this heinous attack on our riders,” said MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber. “New Yorkers know that if they see something, they should say something, especially in this case.  Justice must be served.”

“This cold-blooded criminal must be identified and taken off the streets right away. He must be brought to justice for this horrific act of violence,” said TWU Local 100 President Tony Utano. “Riders need to feel safe. My members need to feel safe. We don’t just dip in and out of the system. We spend entire shifts down there every day and night. This guy has to be apprehended.”

Those with information on the suspect should call the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). Police say the gunman is roughly 5’5” feet tall and 170 pounds. He was said to be wearing a construction vest, gray hooded sweatshirt, and a gas mask during the attack.
