Last Custom MetroCard as MTA Moves Toward Full Transition to OMNY
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced the final commemorative MetroCard, in partnership with Instagram, featuring content creators @SubwayTakes, @NewYorkNico, and @OverheardNewYork, in celebration of New York City’s diversity and iconic status as a global destination for art, music, and creativity.
75,000 MetroCards, available in three versions, are now available as of Monday, Dec. 9, at select MetroCard vending machines in the following subway stations:

There have been more than 400 different limited edition MetroCards since the MetroCard was first introduced in 1994, including the Notorious B.I.G., Supreme, David Bowie KISS, The New York Yankees, Lincoln Center, and the Bronx Zoo, among dozens of others.
The MTA continues the process of fully transitioning from the MetroCard to OMNY, the MTA’s contactless fare payment system, which is the easiest, most flexible way to pay. Subway and bus customers can use their contactless credit or debit card, smartphone, wearable device, or OMNY card to tap and go.
