MTA Advises Customers of Upcoming Signal Modernization Work on the Culver Line in Southern Brooklyn

F Train Service Impacted on Select Weekends Starting Friday, July 5 Through Monday, Sept. 16 

 

Coney Island Bound F Train Service to Run Express Between Church Av and Kings Hwy Starting Monday, July 1 Through Saturday, July 13 

 

Manhattan Bound F Train Service to Run Express Between Church Av and Kings Hwy Starting Monday, August 5 Through Saturday, August 17 

 

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today advised customers of upcoming signal modernization work along the  ​line starting Monday, July 1. The work is part of the final stages of the Authority’s Culver Line Signal Modernization project, which is fully replacing signals on the Culver Line from Church Av  to West 8 St-New York Aquarium  in Brooklyn to improve reliability and resilience, and also removing and decommissioning equipment that has reached the end of their useful life to improve overall service for customers. 

 

On the following weekends,  train service will operate between Jamaica-179 St  and Church Av  stations.  Free shuttle buses will operate between Church Av  and Coney Island-Stillwell Av  to provide service to closed stations.  These dates are subject to change: 

 

  • Friday, July 5 to Monday, July 8; Friday, July 12 to Monday, July 15

  • Friday, August 9 to Monday, August 12; Friday, August 16 to Monday, August 19; Friday, August 23 to Monday, August 26; Friday, August 30 to Tuesday, September 3 (Labor Day Weekend)

  • Friday, September 6 to Monday, September 9; Friday, September 13 to Monday, September 16 

 

In addition to the scheduled weekend work,  train service will be impacted at all times during the following dates. These dates are subject to change: 

 

  • Monday, July 1 to Saturday, July 13: Coney Island bound  train service operates express between Church Av  and Kings Highway F at all times.

  • Monday, August 5 to Saturday, August 17: Manhattan bound  train service operates express between Kings Highway  and Church Av  at all times. 

 

For real-time service updates and information, customers can use the following options: 

 

MTA app – Customers who use the comprehensive MTA smartphone app will see real-time travel information for all MTA services all in one place. 

     

TrainTime app - The MTA’s TrainTime app is the one-stop app for commuter rail customers in the region on both Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad, showing all train schedules for 30 days in the future.

 

new.mta.info – The “Service Status” box at new.mta.info is always the definitive source for the latest status for each line. 

 

MTA Weekender – Customers can sign up for the “MTA Weekender,” a weekly digest of major weekend service changes throughout the transit system.

    

WhatsApp – Customers can chat with NYC Transit via WhatsApp. Riders can receive customer service support in their native language through the help of Google Translate.

 

For those who prefer to contact the MTA by telephone, information is available by dialing 511. Connecticut customers should call 877-690-5114. Those who are deaf or hard of hearing can use their preferred service provider for the free 711 relay to reach the MTA at 511.
