Make a Lost and Found Appointment for Subways and Buses

We’re taking many precautions, including limiting the number of people in the office at a given time, to help keep everyone safe.

Lost and Found is closed to walk-in visitors

Only make an appointment if we have confirmed with you that we have your lost item. If you need to file a claim for an item you have lost, read our step-by-step guide. Call us at 511 if you need other assistance.

Directions to the office

Our offices are at the 34 St-Penn Station (8 Av) subway stop. You can take the subway (A/C/E) lines or the M10, M17, M20, M34 buses to 34th Street/8th Avenue.

If you enter from the street, go to the station booth and tell the station agent you are going to the Lost and Found office. If you have one, show them a lost property claim number or notification postcard. The representative will let you through the turnstiles without having to pay a fare.

Once you are inside the station, take the stairs to the lower mezzanine. Follow the signs to the Lost and Found Office.

Please wear a mask to your appointment and try to maintain a safe social distance. We ask that you arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time.
