Service options during rehabilitation work
Service notice: As the L Project has progressed, we're now able to schedule planned electrical and track work at select stations in Brooklyn. This means that during the overnights (midnight to 5 a.m.) and all day on weekends, there will be a free bus connecting you between Lorimer St and Broadway Junction in Brooklyn.
With the revised approach, the L will continue as normal during the busiest weekday times. During nights and weekends, L service will be reduced. We're adding extra M, G, 7, and bus service to give you more options. We're also adding special Williamsburg Link bus service to connect you quickly to the subways, and we've made a change to that service (new route, new stops) that is in effect as of Saturday, June 8, 2019. Subways are still the fastest way to get around, so our plan is focused on connecting you with a subway line as quickly as possible.
Plan your trip
The L will still run 24/7, but you have other options during the times (nights and weekends) when L service will run less frequently. Here are alternatives so you can plan a trip:
Construction during the L Project
We broke ground for the L Project in July 2017. The completed work to date was primarily for the capacity and accessibility projects we designed in tandem with the tunnel work to make the most of the closure. We will continue with needed repairs, and, as always, safety will be our top priority.
