About subway station bathrooms
When public bathrooms in the subway system were closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, the MTA used the closures to perform needed maintenance and upgrade the facilities.
Bathrooms are open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m., with a one-hour closure for cleaning from 12 noon-1 p.m.
We are continuing to open more bathrooms on a rolling basis as they are ready after remodeling.
Upgrades to subway bathrooms include:
- New motion-activated faucets
- New hand dryers and soap dispensers
- New painted privacy panels
- New lighting
- Tile grouting
- New signage reflecting hours of operation
- Ceiling paint
- Deep cleaning
