The Newburgh-Beacon Ferry is a weekday rush-hour service operated NY Waterway. There is no service on Saturday or Sunday. Ferries are timed to connect at Beacon with Metro-North trains to and from Grand Central.
Free parking is available at the Newburgh dock. The parking lot is attended on weekdays between 5:30 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. and between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Fares
Ferry and rail fares
The adult one-way ferry fare is $1.75. Seniors (62 or older), people with disabilities, and Medicare recipients pay $1 if they show appropriate ID. Children 5 and under ride free on the ferry, those age 6-11 pay $1. Tickets can be purchased at the NY Waterway ticket booth in Newburgh or on the their app.
For travel between Beacon and Grand Central, a one-way ticket costs $24 on peak trains and $17.75 on off-peak trains. A monthly rail-only ticket costs $446.50.
UniTicket
Ferry passes are available as add-ons to weekly and monthly Metro-North tickets for $7.25 and $1 respectively. They cannot be bought separately from a rail ticket. A combined ferry and rail ticket to Grand Central is $447.50 monthly or $166 weekly.
These combined UniTickets are only sold at ticket machines and ticket offices. They are not available on the TrainTime app.
Holiday service
The Newburgh-Beacon Ferry will not run on:
- New Year's Day
- Presidents Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the day after Thanksgiving, the ferry will run on a special schedule. Metro-North trains will run on a Saturday schedule, with additional trains during the morning and evening rush hours.

Alternative service
Ice on the Hudson River can sometimes prevent the ferry from running. A contingency bus schedule will be posted during the winter. Sign up for service alerts to stay informed.
During any planned or unplanned suspension of ferry service, buses or other alternate transportation will be provided between the dock at Newburgh and the Beacon Metro-North station.
Guaranteed Ride Program
Monthly UniTicket holders are eligible for the NYSDOT-sponsored 511NY Guaranteed Ride Program. This program allows you to take up to $600 a year in local cab, rideshare (Uber or Lyft), carpool, or transit trips when your regularly scheduled connecting service isn't available.
