Montauk Branch service levels will remain relatively unchanged. Diesel trains operate on the branch, and we are limited by the number of cars and locomotives that we have.
There will not be direct service to Grand Central on this branch. To reach Grand Central, Penn Station, or Atlantic Terminal, you will have to transfer at Jamaica or Babylon as you do today.
Extra trains will run during the summer. These trains are not shown in this version of the schedule.
Peak service
Eight trains will run in each direction. Two of these roundtrips will be dual-mode trains with direct service to Penn Station. The remainder will operate to and from Babylon, Jamaica, or Long Island City.
Three morning trains and one afternoon train will stop at Mineola and Hicksville stations, increasing options for those traveling to Nassau County hubs.
Off-peak service
Trains will run roughly every hour between Babylon and Patchogue, with less frequent service east of there.
We added an earlier eastbound train on weekday mornings, departing Babylon at 5:40 a.m. The connecting train from Penn Station departs at 4:29 a.m.
South Fork Commuter Connection service will continue to run. The 4:52 p.m. train from Montauk has been extended to Speonk.
