Utopia Winds

Utopia Winds is a clarinet quartet based in Queens, New York, that specializes in compositions written or adapted for four clarinets. Utilizing different members of the clarinet family, especially the bass clarinet, Utopia Winds evokes the range and colors of larger ensembles. The group's repertoire encompasses Bach and Brubeck, Joplin and Sousa, the overture from "The Magic Flute," hits from the Big Band Era, and a tune played by a combo of intergalactic lounge lizards in "Star Wars." The ensemble assembles programs with an eye (and ear) to the calendar, choosing romantic music for Valentine’s Day, Americana for national holidays, creature-feature themes for Halloween, and seasonal favorites in December.
