Robert Anderson Jazz Band

A Brooklyn native, Robert Anderson play bass for the popular R&B group Solo. He has performed at major venues nationally and internationally, including tours in Japan, the United Kingdom, and Germany. A passion for jazz led him to organize the Robert Anderson Jazz Band, influenced by such pioneers of the idiom as Miles Davis, Barry Harris, Paul West, Paul Chambers, Gil Coggins, Wayne Shorter, Cannonball Adderley, and Charlie Parker. With the stated mission “to keep jazz alive,” the band often adds “Keepers of the Bebop Flame” to its name. By bringing live jazz to the streets and subway stations of New York City, the Robert Anderson Jazz Band seeks to reach young people who may not have had the chance to hear jazz or visit the city’s jazz clubs.
