Nirmal Chandraratna is a Kirtan artist and composer with a passion for “nurturing connection to spirit, community, and one's deeper self through music.” Using voice, harmonium, and cello, he creates music for communal meditation and Kirtan, a style of Vedic chant. Chandraratna received his Master’s in Music in 1998 from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he concentrated on vocal composition and opera. He later explored dramatic music at the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop in New York City.

Since 2010, he has studied Sanskrit, Eastern philosophy, and mantra, and has been leading Kirtan ever since. He has sung in various settings across New York and New England, as well as in the Netherlands and Quebec. In addition to performing, he offers guided meditations on the chakras, sound journeys, live music for yoga classes, and other creative offerings.
