Currently a resident of Washington Heights, Gabriel Aldort moved to New York from Topanga, California, where he first began learning piano from his father at the age of six. His early musical influences included Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Billy Joel, the Beatles, and Elton John. Today, his preferred genre is blues, particularly New Orleans stride and boogie woogie. Artists such as Dr. John, James Booker, and Randy Newman form the core of his musical stylings. Aldort’s professional music career spans over 20 years. In addition to public performances, he plays corporate and other private events, while also teaching and working with Yamaha as a trainer and demonstrator of musical instruments.
