Cathy Grier is a singer and guitarist with a "gutsy" folk-blues style. Her funky guitar rhythms accompany a voice that ranges from sweet and haunting to edgy and lyrical. Selected as one of New York's finest subway performers, she has played at Avery Fisher Hall and Radio City Music Hall and was featured on a "CBS Sunday Morning" segment, as well as in a number of documentary films about subway performers. Of her performances with Music Under New York (MTA MUSIC), Grier says she loves to "riff off the commuters," who inspire "exciting spontaneous moments." In a musical career that has spanned over 30 years, Grier has taken her performances and songwriting to many countries, believing that "music is a powerful tool that crosses the boundaries of ignorance and hate."
