A gospel/blues singer and musical theatre actress, Azusa SHESHE Dance is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, residing in Harlem. Her performance accolades include Motormouth Maybelle ("Hairspray"), Dionne ("Hair"), Paulette ("Legally Blonde"), Sophia ("The Color Purple"), and Evillene ("The Wiz"). She was recently cast as Big Queen in "125th & FREEdom" with the National Black Theatre. She has performed on the Apollo stage and sings with the Jealous Fates Band.

SHESHE joined Music Under New York in 2016, where, she says, people give her life through "their smiles, kindness, generosity, and acknowledgement." SHESHE is also the writer/performer of "Houn' Dawg: Life and Times of Big Mama Thornton," which won Best Concert with the 2018 United Solo Festival and was showcased at The Stone Center of University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
