Kuvershen “Kuvesh” Ayer joined the MTA as Chief Procurement Officer in January 2020, reporting to the Chairman and CEO. Ayer is modernizing and consolidating the procurement and supply-chain process across the MTA operating agencies to deliver greater savings and efficiency.

A senior executive with over 20 years of global experience, Ayer has worked for multinational blue-chip companies in the energy, industrial manufacturing, and construction sectors across North America, Latin America, and Southern Africa.

During his tenures at General Electric and Alstom Power, Ayer served in several senior executive roles with increasing responsibilities, including as Global Senior Counsel for GE Power Sourcing and Procurement and, most recently, as the Head of Contracts Management for the North American region.

Previously, he served as Country Director of Contracts and Legal Management for the North American and Southern African divisions of Alstom, a world leader in energy, industrial engineering, and construction services. In that role, he successfully managed several multibillion-dollar engineering, procurement, and construction projects. He has also served as the national head of legal and contracts management for the Independent Development Trust, a project infrastructure entity owned by the National Department of Public Works in South Africa.

Ayer holds a law degree from the University of Natal in South Africa and a Masters of Law from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He lives in Connecticut with his wife and two sons.
