The MTA is testing a ticket for customers traveling between select stations in Southeast Queens and Brooklyn, including Atlantic Terminal. The Atlantic Ticket offers quick, convenient LIRR rides, plus a 7-Day Unlimited Ride MetroCard® that lets you connect to subways and local buses – all at a really great price!

Choose which Atlantic Ticket option works best for you:

  • A One-Way ticket good for travel on LIRR between any of the ten stations below for just $5
  • A weekly ticket good for the LIRR rides above, plus a 7-Day Unlimited Ride MetroCard good for subway and local bus rides, all for just $60

How to use Atlantic Ticket

  1. Board any Atlantic Terminal- or Penn Station-bound train (transfer at Jamaica required) at the participating Queens stations: Rosedale, Laurelton, Locust Manor, St. Albans, Queens Village, or Hollis.
  2. Board any Atlantic Terminal-bound train at Jamaica.
  3. Board any Atlantic Terminal-bound train at Nostrand Ave and East New York.
  4. Use a One-Way* LIRR ticket to Atlantic Terminal, then use your MetroCard for systemwide travel. Or, for greater savings, purchase the weekly Atlantic Ticket that includes a 7-Day Unlimited Ride MetroCard, so you can transfer to a subway or local bus** at Atlantic Terminal and use your MetroCard all week long as often as you wish.

*One-Way and Round-Trip tickets are valid day of purchase only.
**Not valid for transfer to express buses or NICE bus.

Who should try Atlantic Ticket

Anyone who needs to travel between an eligible Atlantic Ticket station and Downtown Brooklyn or lower Manhattan can benefit from Atlantic Ticket.
Your trip may be faster, especially if you have easy access to an LIRR station.

If you currently use LIRR to travel to Atlantic Terminal from an eligible Atlantic Ticket station, switch to Atlantic Ticket and save money. A One-Way* Atlantic Ticket is only $5 (valid day of purchase only).

If you currently ride the LIRR to Penn Station and then ride the subway or local bus to lower Manhattan, you will save money and spend about the same amount of time by riding the LIRR to Atlantic Terminal and then riding the subway to lower Manhattan.

Where to purchase an Atlantic Ticket

Purchase Atlantic Ticket from Ticket Machines:

  • One-Way and Round-Trip tickets are available from Ticket Machines at all eligible stations.
  • Weekly tickets are available from full-service Ticket Machines at all eligible stations.

You may also purchase an Atlantic Ticket at LIRR Ticket Offices at Jamaica and Atlantic Terminal.

Atlantic Ticket is not available from MetroCard Vending Machines, through the MTA eTix app, or as an on-board train purchase.

When may I use Atlantic Ticket?

  • One-Way or Round-Trip ticket
    • Valid day of purchase only
  • Weekly ticket
    • LIRR portion is valid Saturday to Friday
    • MetroCard portion is valid for 7 days from the day of first use.

What transfers are included?

  • One-Way and Round-Trip ticket
    • No transfers included; use your MetroCard.
  • Weekly ticket
    • Includes a 7-Day Unlimited Ride MetroCard (so you can also take unlimited trips on a subway or local bus for 7 days).
    • MetroCard portion is non-refillable.

Can I combine Atlantic Ticket and a regular LIRR ticket?

No. Atlantic Ticket may not be combined with a regular LIRR ticket for travel to/from any other LIRR stations, including Kew Gardens, Forest Hills, Woodside, and Penn Station.

What happens if I forget my Atlantic Ticket or forget to purchase it in advance?

You will be charged the full on-board Zone 1 fare from your origin station to Penn Station or Atlantic Terminal.

What happens if I attempt to use an Atlantic Ticket on a train heading toward Penn Station, Hunterspoint Ave or Long Island City west of Jamaica?

You will be charged the full on-board fare from Jamaica to Zone 1.

What happens if I attempt to use an Atlantic Ticket to travel directly to Penn Station?

  • You will be charged the full on-board Zone 1 fare from your origin station to Penn Station.
  • You will not be given credit for Atlantic Ticket to pay for the full on-board Zone 1 fare to Penn Station.

How do I get a refund?

Atlantic Ticket has a limited ticket refund policy.
You may apply for a refund within 60 days of the purchase date; a $10.00 service fee per refund transaction will be charged.

One-Way and Round-Trip Tickets

Unused One-Way and Round-Trip tickets (valid for 60 days, including date of sale) can be refunded no later than 60 days from the purchase date.

Weekly Tickets

If weekly tickets are submitted for refund, the discount is forfeited, and we must deduct the proper combination of One-Way fares for the period the ticket has been in the customer’s possession. Weekly tickets that are not being used should be postmarked or turned in immediately at any open LIRR Ticket Office; the refund will be calculated identically for punched and unpunched tickets.

Atlantic Ticket Special Notice: The weekly Atlantic Ticket is combined with a NYC Transit 7-Day Unlimited Ride MetroCard. Any unused portion of MetroCard time will not be refunded and is forfeited when the original ticket is submitted for refund.

Original Tickets Must Be Returned

The actual original unused or partially used ticket(s) (not a photocopy) must be submitted. Lost, stolen, or damaged tickets are not refundable. All refund requests are handled through our Ticket Refunds Department, but tickets may be turned in at staffed Ticket Offices, where customers will be asked to fill out a form. Refunds for tickets submitted by mail will be calculated using the postmark as the turn-in date. Refund checks will be mailed to customers within 30 days after the Ticket Refunds Department received the request. For credit/debit card sales, refunds will be issued as credits to customer credit/debit card accounts. Application forms can also be printed from the MTA website and mailed to:
