MTA is continuing to improve and transform Penn Station. Starting the evening of Friday, December 17, the easternmost stairway leading to the platform serving Tracks 20 & 21 will close for renovation. A barricade will be established around the stairway at the platform level to ensure customer safety during construction. The new stairway is anticipated to reopen in the second quarter of 2022.
Access to Tracks 20 & 21 will remain available via the additional stairways located throughout the 33rd Street Corridor; the staircases highlighted in blue will remain open and available throughout the project.
The LIRR Concourse Project will include additional ADA improvements such as the construction of a brand new elevator entrance and the replacement of four existing elevators. The LIRR Concourse Project will also widen the corridors, raise the ceilings, improve lighting and air flow, enhance retail options, and more – for a better Penn Station experience.
