LIRR Concourse Project Update

The MTA is continuing to improve and transform Penn Station. Work is underway throughout the LIRR Concourse to raise the ceilings, widen the corridors, enhance retail, improve lighting and air flow, and provide key accessibility enhancements. Over the past couple of months, retail along the 33rd Street Corridor has been closed, construction barriers were erected, and wood decking was installed overhead to protect the public during construction.

In the meantime, customers can access concessions at the Hudson News stand, now open in the LIRR Concourse, near the East End Gateway entrance. Additional amenities, including a range of retail and dining options, are available on the upper level of Penn Station. You can access the upper level via the Exit Concourse near the entrance to the subway lines, as well as via the Main Gate Concourse. A wayfinding map and list of amenities appears at the bottom of this page.

The LIRR Concourse Project will include higher ceilings, wider corridors, improved lighting and air flow, accessibility enhancements, new retail options, and more — for a better Penn Station experience.
