Construction & Development

In the five boroughs and beyond, the MTA is investing in the systems we need to make it easier and faster to travel in the region—better stations, modern signals, new buses and trains, and lots of behind-the-scenes infrastructure.

Our goals

Our capital investment strategy is in pursuit of five fundamental goals:

  1. Add capacity
  2. Improve access
  3. Improve customer experience
  4. Support local communities
  5. Enhance safety and network resiliency

MTA Capital Programs

The 2020-2024 Capital Program, totaling $54.8 billion, will create a faster, more accessible, more reliable transit system. Here’s more about that, as well as our past programs.

Capital Program Dashboard

The Capital Program Dashboard tracks progress on the MTA’s five year Capital Plans. It starting with selected projects in the 2005-2009 Capital Plan, and includes nearly all projects in the newer plans. We update it quarterly. It tracks programs, and also maps them so you can see the progress of projects near you.

Keep up to date with our larger projects across our network. You can see other individual projects here.
