Members of the Advisory Committee for Transit Accessibility (ACTA) help the MTA Accessibility team and departments across the agency develop new accessibility initiatives, provide feedback on active projects, and promote these projects to the community. ACTA also collects community and rider feedback to share with the MTA to identify accessibility challenges and opportunities.
The full ACTA group meets quarterly (currently in person with a hybrid option) for discussions with MTA staff on a range of topics related to accessibility. ACTA holds additional monthly meetings on dedicated topics. ACTA members are expected to attend and actively participate in these meetings.
The MTA is seeking a diverse group of community members to fill multiple vacancies on the committee. The goal of ACTA is to be representative of the MTA’s rider base, including members with various disabilities and those who represent other accessibility needs, and riders of all the MTA’s service modes. Members need not be technical experts in disability or accessibility issues, but must be committed to working with the MTA to advance systemwide accessibility.
